I'm On To Something Here

Working on a new plan to get America back to work. Need some more research and will need some mathematical input but I really think I'm on to something.

First, and what continues to be an unquenchable outrage, Wall Street is made up of worry warts and hand wringers - who react with "fear," "panic," etc. to every single so-called economic indicator. I have spent my entire career being told emotion has no place at work - but apparently that's not true when it comes to evaluating trillions of dollars of company value. But I digress.

So the simple plan I have in mind: come up with a formula that goes something like this:

X number of employees divided by X # of new positions - X percentage of overflow profit = X percent drop in unemployment rate.

In other words, if EVERY company in this country committed to creating new position(s) - based on company size and profit sustainability of course - wouldn't that make them better customers, better citizens...oh wait, that's George Bailey's speech to Potter, so again I digress.

That's the gist of it. Still working through the numbers - a scarey thought indeed.

Update (8/27/10): interesting business numbers
